Artist's Description

The Belvedere are the grounds and buildings once owned by Austrian royalty. There are 2 palaces (the Upper and Lower), a greenhouse that grew orange trees, and stables. On the grounds you can find fountains, statues, and gardens. Quite the place for the "summer residence" of Prince Eugene of Savoy.

Construction began in the early 1700's. It was improved upon but left the Hapsburg family at the end of WWI at which time the government that came to be owned the property. It was heavily damaged during WWII but repaired and eventually reopened (different parts at different times) as museums and venues for exhibitions and shows.

The grounds are worth walking around even if you don't go in.

Oh..and I paint flowers too, among other...
