Artist's Description
This is the Chiesa di San Pietro, otherwise known as the Church of Saint Peter, located at the very southern tip of the Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre (Cinque Terre National Park).
I'm not sure of the time of its original construction, but it was built over the ancient remains of a temple dedicated to the goddess Venus. It was known to have been renovated by the Genoese from 1256-1277, so it is at least 763 years old as of this posting.

It was damaged in attacks by naval forces of Charles VII (King of France), raided by pirates, plundered by various groups for materials, and was used as a defense battery in Napoleonic times. There was also a major fire in 1494.
Some restoration was conducted from 1929-1934. After that, not sure...

Painting the things I see reflect the wonder I had when I first saw them. I hope that when people see my works, they think the subject matter is interesting, whether or not they like the painting. Oh..and I paint flowers too, among other...
