Artist's Description

This is the Metropolitan Cathedral in located in the heart of Iasi, Romania. It was built in the 1880's after the previous one in this location fell apart and lay in ruins for about 30 years. It's on the Nation Register of Historic Monuments in Romania and is the largest historic Orthodox church in the country.

While the church is in the middle of town, the front is at the edge of a rise where one is required to walk up a hill, and some steps to get to the building. That means one must look up building giving the illusion there is nothing behind it but the sky and clouds.

Here it was early morning on Easter Sunday, as an elderly couple stand in front of the Church. Perhaps they were just sightseeing, just like me. Or perhaps they were going in to the service when it opened.

Painting the things I see reflect the wonder I had when I first saw them. I hope that when people see my works, they think the subject matter is interesting, whether or not they like the painting. Oh..and I paint flowers too, among other...
